What Exactly Is the Grief Coaching Alliance?

Written by Founding Member Meagan Hubbell

Welcome to the Grief Coaching Alliance! We are a small group of grief coaches around the world who have big dreams for the growing field of grief coaching. As the founding members of GCA, we want to tell you a little bit about the purpose of the organization as well as introduce you to the members who got it all started.

The founding members of GCA began meeting in the summer of 2025. Our goal was to come together to brainstorm a way for grief coaches to have a space to connect, learn more about the field, and grow as coaches. As we continued meeting, we committed to creating a group where connection, collaboration and growth are the goals. We thought through action items for an organization that included things like mission and vision. As ideas continued to form, we started to build a social media platform to connect with other grief specialists. Thus, the Grief Coaching Alliance was officially born.

As we continued to meet, we started talking about what it would look like to form an organization that supported grief coaches globally. Some of the coaches were brand new to the field, while others were veterans, and with this unique mix of experience and insight, GCA began to take shape.

While GCA is still in its very early stages of development, the founding members are so excited to start connecting with other grief coaches and specialists around the world. As we build and grow, we hope that you will find a space to learn from other coaches, to add your own personal expertise and experience into the conversation, and most importantly of all, to connect with other people in your field.

As we launch this organization, our focus at the start is to bring opportunities for connection in real time as well as educational webinars. We envision Zoom calls for social purposes to truly get to know one another on deeper levels. We hope that through the virtual social meetings, coaches will connect with other coaches and specialists who work in the grief space. Through this connection, we hope those who participate feel supported in a field that, while impactful, can also come with isolation, as many grief coaches work independently.

Thank you for being here at GCA and joining us in what we believe will grow to be a powerful network of people holding space for themselves and others during one of life’s most significant experiences.
